Live from IC!

Hey all!

As some of you might already know, Team Supreme is currently in Istanbul, Turkey at the AIESEC International Congress 2007. Actually we've been here for ten days already, but due to the hectic nature of the conference and the very sporadic Internet access that we have at the site, we haven't posted in the blog sooner.

The days we've spent here have been extremely busy with agenda ending at 22:00 and continuing with country meetings and networking afterwards. The bravest of us have also partied through the night on top of all of that... Personally, the heat of the days is getting to me. On avarage, the weather has been +30-35 degrees worth of sunshine from cloudless sky.

There will surely be more postings by others as well, so I'll keep this one short. The picture I've attached is from the opening plenary, featuring the whole Finnish delegation. Without going to too much details, I can tell you that our role call was very well received - we've definately upheld the expectations that Lordi has brought upon Finland... ;-)

Without further ado, I'm off to tonight's party now. Over and out!

Hostile takeover

It feels odd to step into the empty office after transition. The door still has that huge ugly padlock on it, the lights are off and the curtains still drawn. No one has made coffee. There is nobody to greet you, as you step in. Even though you know which one is your desk, you’re still half expecting the owner to come and hush you away like a child caught red-handed in middle of mischief. It’s like watching your favourite sitcom, with all the main characters replaced by new ones.

The same sensation of not belonging fills me, as I write this first posting to the blog. On many-a occasion I can recall myself visiting this very same blog last year, to see if somebody had posted anything new. It’s somehow confusing to realise that I can’t do that anymore. Even more so, once you realise that you can’t complain about the lack of updates to anybody else than yourself.

Hours after hours, elbow deep in dirt and grit cleaning up the office, hunting for cheapest possible place to buy office supplies or new computers, re-doing network wiring, re-arranging furniture – and working in between all of that. After all that, slowly you start to realise it – this office belongs to us now. And the same applies to the blog. Just as I was bitching to people about the lack of updates, people are starting to do the very same to us as well. So time has come to start updating the blog again.

But firstly, the sentimental part within me demands me to do the following:

“Hello AIESEC in Finland! Welcome to Team Supreme’s official blog. Through this channel, you will get to know more about the MC life, about each of the Supremes and about our crazily fun days in the MC. We have so much to share to you but first things first…”

Behold AIESEC in Finland – TEAM SUPREME IS HERE!

One more Goodbye

There is one more posting, funnily enfough its my first posting, a lil late :-) but then again better late than never, some of the reasons that pulled me back to India sooner than the actual end of the term are why I have not been able to blog since landing but here goes ...

I started writing this letter-bog on the last working day, attempting to get over my blogger-phobia but then again that's what alot of this year had been about, venturing into the new and attempting the unknown. But saying goodbye in the virtual age is even more difficult than imagined, especially if its to a whole country !

I want to say many things , but what I am going to share are the few things about this country that I have come to love, laugh about, argue over and even dislike..

Only in Finland

Does everybody everywhere talk longingly about winter in the summer and vice verse

Only in Finland

Do you set your watch by the public transport clock

Only in Finland

Do people expect you to tell them what a cold-frozen unlively country Finland is and have no idea how to react or think that you are lying when you say that you like the country.

Only in Finland

Do women make the moves on men, that leaves a lil Indian girls like me pleasantly surprised...but left out in the cold..since you come from a culture where things are the other way around.

Only in Finland

Is 3 people walking down the street considered a parade ...:-) dont get me wrong I love the space.

and I could go on and on with the quirks and funny and hullua things about Finland.so this is not goodbye but cu later !! thank you to everybody in AIESEC in Finland for allowing me into your lives and trusting me with the parts of AIESEC Suomi.

A big hug and thank you to Team Possible, we are all cute pigs at the end it really ! since I am the only member from the MC not in Finland I hope that everybody who reads this will keep in touch with me, if you are not already. email : chandra.shre@gmail.com msn : shreya24@hotmailcom

To the Team Supreme I wish you best of luck in the most intense year you will experience.

Good luck and Goodbye

cheers

shreya

Crazy Parties and Planning

The handover and MC bye bye parties were absolutely crazy! I am sure that the Supremes will be blogging about their handover experience which included among other things going to a sex shop, singing "Like A Virgin," skinny dipping, dressing up as metrosexuals and ordering a Supreme pizza.

Anyway, both parties had around 40+ people trying to fit in the very nice MC flat! People were absolutely crazy and a bit, um, drunk in the process but we sure had fun!

Today, the Possibles brought Shreya to the airport to say bye bye to her for the last time. It was quite a sad moment but life does go on.

At this moment, I am writing this post during our summer planning break. The PossiPremes are spending 2 full days making sure the everything works out!
